The Alchemy of Fire: A Summer Evening of Yin
Join Carleena for a nourishing evening of Yin Yoga,
inspired by the Fire Element and the Summer Season.
Why Yin Yoga in Summer?
Since the summer is characterized by heat, fire and activity, Yin is the perfect opposite and a restorative way to balance that energy. Yin Yoga is a restful style of yoga. “Yin” is the cooling, replenishing energy that opposes the “yang” of the fire energy of summer.
In Yin Yoga, you enjoy mostly floor poses and hold poses for 1-5 minutes at a time. The poses are meant to lubricate the joints and replenish vital fluids to the fascia. Rather than a strength-building or physically demanding practice, yin is mean to restore and rejuvenate via gentleness and rest.
